Dr. Robert E. Ruderman
Dr. Robert Ruderman has been with Highland Park Pediatric Associates since finishing his pediatric residency at the University of Chicago. Prior to that, he attended Tulane University in New Orleans, completing both medical school and undergraduate studies. He was awarded Phi Beta Kappa as an undergraduate and spent time studying at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Dr. Ruderman is a clinical instructor in pediatrics for Northwestern University Medical School. He is also part of Lurie Children's Hospital (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital) Community Physician Association and is a member of the Lurie Children's Hospital (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital) out patient research group. In 2010 he was named one of Chicagoland's top pediatricians by Chicago magazine.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Ruderman enjoys gardening and is an avid sailor. He is married and has three grown children, all pursuing active post-college careers.
Dr. Michael D. Siegel
Dr. Michael D. Siegel graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his residency at Northwestern University's Lurie Children's Hospital (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital). Since that time, he has been in general pediatric practice here at Highland Park Pediatric Associates. Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Siegel is a clinical instructor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University. He has published a paper in Pediatric Clinics of North America on the long-term follow up of premature infants.
Dr. Siegel is active in several physician groups and has been on the board of CCPA (Children's Community Physicians Association) representing over 600 physicians, for a number of years. Dr. Siegel is a member of the Board of Directors of PediaTrust. He has held several officer positions at CCPA, including past President, and is currently the Treasurer. Dr. Siegel is active in the community, serving on the board of his Temple in officer positions and directorships. With a lifelong interest in camping, Dr. Siegel has donated his time as a camp physician since 1990 and is a member of the camp special needs committee.
Dr. Sara L. Star
Dr. Sara L. Star considers herself a doctor, teacher, guidance counselor and mental health advisor. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania with high honors in Biochemistry, and then went on to Northwestern University Medical School. Her pediatric training was completed at Lurie Children's Hospital (formerly Children's Memorial Hospital) in Chicago. Dr. Star seeks to create a partnership with the parents of her patients offering parenting skill training for developmental, nutritional and safety issues. As her patients become teenagers, her focus shifts to offer adolescent guidance and health prevention.
Dr. Star has particular interests in Celiac Disease, breastfeeding issues, allergic conditions, sleep disorders, and nutrition. She has served on the board of the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center.
In her "spare time," Dr. Star is a mother to three children. She enjoys music, crossword puzzles, and whenever possible, sleep.
